Duke of Edinburgh International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a youth achievement award program founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The program is internationally recognised and encourages young people to develop skills such as leadership, teamwork, and perseverance while giving back to their communities.

The DofE Award has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each requiring progressively more commitment. Participants must complete activities in four sections (five for Gold):

  1. Volunteering: Engaging in community service or charity work.
  2. Physical: Improving in a sport, fitness, or physical activity.
  3. Skills: Developing practical and social skills or pursuing hobbies.
  4. Expedition: Planning and undertaking an adventurous journey, usually involving camping and hiking.
  5. Residential (Gold level only): Participating in a shared activity in a residential setting away from home.
